Casino del Sol, located in Tucson, Arizona, is owned and operated by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. They are currently expanding the site to include a 10-story, 215 room Hotel, a Conference Center, covered walkway, and a 4 level, 1000 parking structure.
The Hotel structure consists of post tensioned flat plates, concrete columns and concrete shear walls. One unique feature is a two story steel framed dome structure supported by the roof level post tensioned slab. The Conference Center is a significant addition to the Casino, and provides a direct link between the Casino and Hotel. The space houses various functions, including ballrooms, meeting space, dining, gaming, etc. A steel structure was chosen, which allowed for flexibility in the column grids to help accommodate the various functions. The Parking Garage consists of a concrete structure that utilizes Cunningham formwork.
