Renovations to the 52-year old speedway and grandstand (Phoenix International Speedway) were completed in time for the 2018 NASCAR fall season; this is the first upgrade to the raceway since it opened. The $178 million modernization project included new grandstands with individual seating for up to 45,000 people, the addition of four escalators and five elevators, and new souvenir and guest services areas. Racing fans are able to choose from the raceway’s 19 new suites and 32 renovated suites. The new NASCAR garages will be open for people to see teams working on the cars and participating in pre-race meetings, as well as the Victory Lane celebration after the race.
